Quilt: Sounds of the Tree
February is
celebrated around the world as Black History Month, in Jamaica, we also
celebrate the legacy of Reggae in this month. During the month, Quilt, an
amazing two year old arts company, celebrated both in their production “Sounds of the Tree”.
The production took us on a journey, from the traumatic era of being ripped
from our home land, Africa; to present day where we've made Jamaica home and are
proud Jamaicans. This amazing group used poetry, drama, song and dance, to
evoke a broad spectrum of emotions. I laughed, I cried, I danced, I sang, I
paused to ponder, I felt a sense of pride to be Jamaican; but more importantly
I took photos ☺
Thanks for this, I didn't get to go see the show myself and you've created quite a detailed "quilt" here.
