We had to wait two years, but it was so worth the wait. The talent on
display at this year's Calabash Festival was just amazing. The
extremely gifted poets and authors, took us on breathtaking journeys
that left many in awe. Their bravery to share their feelings on some
very touchy topics; the awareness of the struggles many people live
through daily; the vulnerability of some sharing their own hardships
made the audience feel a surreal tangible connection with each presenter.
The
entertainment was top class with upcoming reggae beauty Sevana, and
young veteran Protoje. The real veterans of the Calabash Ensemble were
amazing as well, thrilling us with comedy and an easy trip down memory
lane with some great reggae classics.
Kudos to the organisers for a
job well done! Two years was certainly a long time to wait but the
festival did not disappoint, and I am so looking forward to 2018.
